Synopsis:
Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.
Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.
This book—it just broke my heart and soul... but I still loved it! Not the hurting... the book. Lol. It just broke my heart so many times, and yet, I still love it... and I also still feel like crying everytime I think about it 😢 If I had to describe this book with one gif this is literally it:
I don’t even know where to start with this. I guess with the thing I like least: The love triangle.
How could three people who cared for one another so much cause one another so much pain?
And that is exactly why I hate love triangles. Well, one of the reasons, anyway. I absolutely adore both Jem and Will, so this love triangle in particular was just the worst! And I don’t blame Tessa for loving them both because they are both amazing in their own way!
The thing that is so heartbreaking about this love triangle is the bond between Jem and Will—they’re best friends and they’re in love with the same girl. And yet, Jem and Will are still so sweet toward one another. It makes my heart hurt. Having to watch Will see Jem and Tessa being all cutesy together broke my heart. Will just wants Jem and Tessa to be happy! Even if he’s not.
I also loved Tessa! She turned out to such a strong character, so loyal and headstrong. And she’s also no damsel in distress, which I loved. And we finally found out about Tessa’s parentage and it was insane! I could not believe it!
Another character I loved was Sophie! She is just amazing! She not just the help, she’s really become part of the family. Oh, and her and Gideon? I ship it so hard! They are so cute together! So much yes!
And I loved Gideon, too, which is surprising because remember how unliked the Lightwoods were at the beginning of the series? Yeah, it’s crazy. But it’s also called character growth. I really felt awful for the brothers, especially for what they went through with their dad and the stupid Consul Wayland... the prick. I even ended up liking Gabriel by the end, and he was the jerk brother! Lol.
Magnus and Will’s friendship was the cutest! Apparently Will finds him easy to talk to, which awww. Lol. And I just plainly love Magnus! I think across all the Shadowhunter books, Magnus is gonna stay my favorite character no matter what! I adore him! He is the best! Magnus also had an interaction with Henry which I found super endearing. He was very enthusiastic and very interested in Henry’s inventions and Henry was just so into talking about them with Magnus. Definitely one of my favorite scenes!
One character I absolutely did not like, and with good reason: Mortmain. Ugh! He is just the worst! He was more sick than I thought! What he wanted with Tessa was disgusting!
And then the epilogue... ugh! I have to say that I’m not a fan of epilogues in general.
I personally would’ve preferred not to know any of this. I really didn't. It was too sad! It made me cry... again! Lol.
But overall, I absolutely adored this book, even though it made me cry so much. Lol. I love anything Shadowhunter related, and I absolutely loved this series! It was great all around!
P.S. The battle at the beginning was amazing! It gave me some serious Tremors vibes and I absolutely love Tremors!

I still need to get around to reading this book. I read Clockwork Angel a couple years back and never continued with the series for some reason. I now own the complete trilogy and should get around to finishing it.
ReplyDeleteYeah I read Clockwork Angel SEVEN years ago and I finally finished this series this year! Lol. But it's such a great series--I absolutely loved it!
DeleteThis sounds like a good read. I will check out the trilogy.
ReplyDeleteIt is! Just make sure to grab some tissues cause it's a tear-jerker 😅
DeleteLove the review!! I absolutely loved this cast and Will Herondale has my entire heart. And the epilogue? i dont think I've ever been this heartbroken. I love Cassie and i'll get over everything but not Cassie taking my Will away *cries*
ReplyDeleteThank you! YES! That Epilogue is just ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Waterworks throughout the whole thing. Lol. But I do love the Herondale boys 🖤
