Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Jules Verity knows exactly what's in store at her new job at castle-turned-dinner-theater Tudor Times. Some extra cash, wearing a fancy-pants dress, and plenty of time to secretly drool over the ever-so-tasty--and completely unavailable--Grayson Chandler. Except that it's not quite what she imagined.

For one, the costume Jules has to wear is awful. Then there's the dead body she finds that just kind of...well, disappears. Oh, and there's the small issue of Jules and her episodes of what her best friend calls "Psychic Tourette's Syndrome"--spontaneous and uncontrollable outbursts of seemingly absurd prophecies.

The only bright side? This whole dead body thing seems to have gotten Grayson's attention. Except that the more Jules investigates, the more she discovers that Grayson's interest might not be as courtly as she thought. In fact, it's starting to look suspicious...

My rating: ★★★★★

Holding Court was so freaking cute! I absolutely loved it! This was exactly what I needed after reading Final Girls. Don’t get me wrong, I love horror/thrillers and I really loved Final Girls, but it was just... wow. Anyway, this book came at just the perfect time!

So our main character Jules has these prophetic blurts that her best friend likes to call Psychic Tourette’s Syndrome. It’s super funny but also totally inconvenient for Jules. Lol. Yeah it sounds cool, but it also makes for some awkward situations and I loved it! Lol.

I look up at [Grayson], and my heart gives a funny little flutter. “The virgin hides the truth!” I yell in his face.
“You don’t say?”
“I pretty much wish I hadn’t.”

And speaking of her best friend, I loved her! She was so funny!

Cami closes the newspaper and starts counting on her fingers. “Number one, you need a job. Number two, Grayson Chandler. Number three, you finally get to see the inside of Lunewood Castle, and number four, you get to dress up in a fancy Tudor gown that is bound to give you fabulous cleavage.”

I also really liked Angelique! She was also very funny, and feisty! At Jules’s new job, she’s taking over for Angelique while she’s on maternity leave, so that’s where she meets her. Angelique was definitely one of my favorite characters!

And I of course liked Grayson, too, Jules’s crush. He was very Knight in Shining Armor. Grayson protects Jules as much as he can at work after she finds the dead body. It was SO cute! I loved them together! And that heart to heart they had at the end was the sweetest thing ever!

“Your knight in shining armor, reporting for duty.”
I look up to see Grayson in his billowy white shirt. He has got to stop looking like he just stepped off the cover of a romance novel. My heart can’t take the exquisite torture. “What?” I said, forgetting whatever it was he just said.

I love mysteries, murder mysteries, so that’s what initially caught my attention about this book. But it was so much more than that! It was very funny and cute! I absolutely adored it! And the mystery was great too! I thought I had the mystery figured out, but it turns out I was wrong whole time! Lol. I love when a book surprises me like that. I did not suspect the killer at all! I was very surprised! The motive was kind of insane and over the top, but I loved it! Lol. I highly recommend this book!
