Synopsis:

It's been a year since Evan died in the Fear Street woods. A year since Ellen moved away, and "the gang" split up. Meg Dalton felt as if she'd lost her best friends. Everyone changed. Even her boyfriend Tony was acting moody, strange. But when she heard that Ellen was returning for a visit, Meg had the answer: she'd bring them all together again with a surprise party for Ellen!

That's when the terror began... the phone calls... the threats... the bizarre acts of violence. "Cancel the party—or else," the whispered voice on the phone told her. Meg was scared, and with good reason. Whoever wanted the party stopped would try anything—even murder! But why? The dark Fear Street woods held the answer... if Meg dared to discover the truth!

My rating: ★★★★☆

It was just another party—until the threats began...

After the apparent suicide of their friend Evan, Meg’s friend (and Evan’s girlfriend) moves away. Now she’s back in Shadyside visiting and Meg decides to throw her a surprise party. Except someone doesn’t want this party to happen. Does it have to do with the death of Evan? Pretty much, yeah. Lol.

I really liked this book! It had a ton of plot twists—like, more plot twists than I could’ve imagined! It was insane! A good bit into the book is when we get a revelation, and I was very surprised because it was far too early for these sorts of reveals/confessions. Turns out there was more to the story. It was a pretty interesting mystery and it kept me wanting more.

In a lot of Fear Street books, I’m pretty indifferent about the characters, but in this one I absolutely loved our main character Meg! Girl gets things done and thinks on her feet! She is no damsel in distress! She is smart and tries her hardest to get herself and her friends out of trouble! She is a badass and I loved her! She’s also kind of a savage. Lol. At one point in the book Meg sits down to write down her list of suspects...

So she wrote down Dwayne.
Why?
“Because I don’t like him.”

I laughed so hard at this! I love her! But also, same girl. Dwayne was such a creeper! He did not know how to take ‘no’ for an answer and would not leave Shannon alone. Ugh!

Meg and Tony on the other hand, I really liked! At times, they were pretty cute together... when Tony wasn’t being a total psycho! He had these weird mood swings that just— WTF, dude!

Anyway, here are some Easter Eggs: Lisa and Cory from previous book The New Girl appeared several times throughout book! In fact, Lisa is a friend of our main character Meg! But it looks like Lisa and Cory are having relationship trouble... yikes! I told you Lisa, you can do better than that clown. Lol. Arnie and David, two friends of Cory are also mentioned. And lastly, Gary Brandt and Suki Thomas from The Overnight are mentioned!

The Fear Street connection: Meg has the dumb idea of holding a surprise party at an old remodeled house on Feat Street. Just... sigh. Also, Evan died in the Fear Street woods.

The dangers of Fear Street woods weren’t just rumor. People really did disappear in those dark hills that stretched for miles past the end of Fear Street. Strange, impossible accidents were reported in the newspaper. Trees fell, seemingly for no reason at all. Normally fearful animals attacked with bizarre ferocity...

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! :)
