As the Soul Society struggles against the mysterious group of warriors calling themselves the Vandenreich, Captain General Yamamoto joins the battle. With his Bankai finally revealed, Yamamoto takes down the Vandenreich’s king. But is the battle really over...?

My rating: ★★★★★

This volume of Bleach was very much Head Captain-centric, and it was really interesting because we got to see some cool stuff from him. We also learn a bit more about the Big Bad, Yhwach. We kinda find out where he comes from and that was also really interesting. And while I sort of get why the Quincies hate the Soul Reapers and want revenge... I mean, the reapers basically slaughtered them! But it’s just not cool, dude! I do not like! Lol. Even though the whole slaughter thing may have been an overreaction on the Soul Reapers part 🤷‍♀️

And omg we also get some more info on Ichigo! Like him being a Soul Reaper and Visored wasn’t enough, there’s even more to the poor guy! We get some hints regarding his mom and I’m kind of excited about what those hints are implying! 😱

Speaking of Ichigo, we got some fun Ichigo and Rukia scenes. I really miss them because they’re just so cute! I especially love when Rukia calls him an idiot 🤣 Anyway, here, have a cool Ichigo shot!

And Renji was back there at the end! I’m always a fan when he shows up 🥰 Another guy who showed up was Kon, and I can’t say I missed that little punk. Lol. As for the other Soul Reapers, well a bunch of them are injured and a handful of them lost their Bankai and I still can’t believe it! 😩 And then there was one major death in this and I was honestly surprised! Like, wtf! 😢

In this volume we are also introduced to Squad Zero which was very interesting. I don’t think they’ve really been mentioned in the past, so meeting them was pretty cool. Each of the five members has their own little castle in the royal palace, Reiokyu, which was also really cool to see. I’m excited to explore more of it in later volumes!

There was this super crazy plot twist there at the end that I did not see coming at all and I NEED to talk about it! Especially considering who this character is!

This volume was SO good! I enjoyed seeing Reiokyu and seeing what it’s all about and what they do up there. This is definitely only the beginning so I’m excited to see what else there is. Also, that plot twist and cliffhanger at the end... I need to know more!
