The Confession (Fear Street, #38)
The Confession

I loved the beginning of this book:

What would you do if one of your best friends took you aside and said he had a confession to make?
What if your friend confessed to you that he killed someone? And he begged you not to tell anyone. He begged you to keep his horrible secret.
What would you do?

I mean, yikes! Is that not intriguing, or what? But man, was this guy who made the confession an idiot 🙄

This had a lot of fake outs, and it was annoying. Usually I can gauge them pretty well and anticipate which ones will be fake just so I don’t get my hopes up, but these for some reason just got me. And it was not cool! I don’t know why it bugged me so much in this one! BUT there was one scene that wasn’t a fake out and there was lots of spurting blood and it was super gross and I super liked it 😏😉

What Holly Heard (Fear Street, #34)
What Holly Heard

Holly is a huge gossip, but this latest rumor she heard got her killed. Yikes. Now Holly’s friends Miriam Ruth fear that the killer will come after them.

Holly was mostly a fun character, but I can’t say I was the biggest fan of hers overall. A trope in these books that I am kind of getting sick of seeing, is a character going after another guy when they already have a guy! Especially when the other guy already has a girlfriend too! Wtf Holly? But overall, it was a pretty okay read. I thought the story was intriguing and I was very interested to find out what Holly heard to get her killed.

The Face (Fear Street, #35)
The Face

The Face had a very interesting concept. Basically, Martha went on a trip with her friends where something SO traumatic happened that Martha got amnesia. Now she keeps drawing the same face of a stranger over and over and she believes it has something to do with the trip.

Overall, it was an okay read. It didn’t wow me, but it also wasn’t awful. I enjoyed the setting and the mystery was fun to unravel even though I did end up guessing a lot of the mystery ahead of time. I really enjoyed the little flashbacks we got throughout the book as Martha remembered more of this trip and uncovered what happened. I read this book once before only a couple years ago, but I did not remember one thing about it, so it was nice to go into it pretty much blind. Also, there was this one character who got freaking DECAPITATED and it was intense! There was SO much blood and it was cool and I loved it! 😈

  1. I've never read one of these books before and from your reviews, I don't think my wimpy stomach can handle these books. I do enjoy mysteries, but it sounds like these books were just okay reads for you.
