My rating: ★★★★☆

I really liked this series! I love that they’re retold myths in the form of graphic novels! (Also, the kids at the school I work at LOVE this series! Lol.)

This volume is all about Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and war strategy, and it was actually told from the Fates' POV! That was very interesting. We learn all about her conception and her mother Metis (yes, Athena has a mother... she wasn’t just randomly birthed from Zeus’s head... there’s a reason why it happened that way). We also learn why she took the name Pallas Athena, and we see her part in the gigantomachy (the war between the Olympians and the Giants).

And one of the big myths we touch on is the creation and death of Medusa, which Athena has a big part in as well. One thing I was bitter about was that this book implied that Medusa willingly took Poseidon as her lover, which, um NO, she absolutely did not! Ugh.

I’m no expert in the subject, but I do know my Greek myths pretty well. But anyway, we also followed the famous hero Perseus for a bit as he slayed poor Medusa and saved Andromeda from a sea monster. And we also visited the Arachne myth, which is always a fun one. Lol.

But yeah, I enjoyed this! It was good and it had pictures, which is always fun. Lol.
