Synopsis: Everyone in Fairview knows the story.

Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town.

But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?

Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent... and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn't want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger.

My rating: ★★★★★

When you ask people in town what happened to Andie Bell, they'll tell you without hesitation: "She was murdered by Salil Singh." No "allegedly," no "might have," no "probably," no "most likely."
He did it, they say. Sal Singh killed Andie.
But I'm just not so sure.

This book was amazing! The mystery was very intriguing and the way everything unraveled was so good! The mystery was definitely my favorite part of this book. There were so many shocking revelations, some I saw coming, some I didn't. And the more Pip dug into the mystery, the more she realized that Andie might not have been everything everyone thought her to be 👀

Another thing I liked is that the book had letters, interviews, footnotes, and a bunch of other things scattered throughout the book. We got to see all the evidence Pip found and all of her notes, so that was a lot of fun. And the chapters with the narrative were short, so that's another plus.

Pip's partner in solving this mystery was Ravi, Sal’s brother, so he was even more invested in finding out the truth about his brother and Andie. I really liked Ravi! The way he talked about his brother was very heartwarming and I just really liked him and Pip. They were super cute and their banter was a lot of fun!

I also really liked Pip. She was very smart as she put the pieces of the puzzle together. But she did put herself in some very dangerous situations at times, which was decidedly not smart. Lol.

But I really loved this book overall! The mystery was intriguing and very well done. I didn't even know who the actual culprit was till the very end, which is always fun and surprising for me. Lol. I feel like this book would’ve made a good standalone, so I’m very curious about the sequel and what that will be about.
