My rating: ★★★★★

I’m a huge horror movie fan so when I discovered this book I knew that I needed it in my brain immediately! The thing about me though is that, honestly, I would probably be that person who dies in the first 5 minutes of a Supernatural episode 😆

So I was hoping that maybe this book would help with that! And you know what, it might!

The book starts off by helping you find out whether you're in a horror movie. It listed all these cliches and even had something called a MAD test... I loved it! This book hooked me right from the start! There was some fun art and the writing was very sassy! I love a book with fun writing!

After you figure out whether you’re in a horror movie or not, we move on to figuring out what type of movie you’re in, and to do that you have to gather clues from your surroundings. For example, are you in the Pacific Northwest (I am 😭) and have found some creepy tapes? Sorry, you might only have seven days to live 😬

I loved how the book was broken down into different types of movies and listed the seven horror movie sins that will 100% get you killed. For me, that would be curiosity. In the real world, I am a skeptic. I hear a noise I’m gonna go investigate like the absolute idiot I am 😆 You’d think that with the amount of horror movies I watch and horror books I read, I’d know better. But no, I’d probably die tbh. Lol.

But thanks to this book, that might not be the case after all because it gives you tips on how to get out of immediate danger! Listen, this is a nonfiction book about surviving fictional horror movies, but honestly, the tips aren’t bad. So you’re in the Pacific Northwest with a creepy Well Girl on your tail... Head north. Why? Because nothing bad ever happens in Canada 😆 Finding yourself in a Saw-like situation? Play dumb. Being chased by inbred hillbilles? Girl, you gotta out-crazy them. They won't know what hit them.

Finding yourself in a slasher? No worries! This book breaks down the different types of slashers and how to defeat them! It’ll even tell you how to convince the skeptical local police to help you! Wondering whether your house is haunted? This book will tell you how to figure that out and how to get rid of the entity! The book will also tell you what to do if you suddenly find that your corn has children in it. I know, nobody wants that.

This book was ridiculous and I loved every minute of it! It was so much fun and it made me laugh a lot! I loved every aspect of the book and how satirical it was! I highly recommend this book if you're a fan of horror movies! And even if you’re not, you might still find this fun to read!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊

  1. This book sounds like a blast! For such a "dark" topic it looks so much fun 😂😂 I just have to read this, even though I don't even watch horror movies 😂

  2. Oh my gosh, this sounds like so much fun! I have loved other books by this author, so I'll have to grab this one. I guess I didn't realize it was nonfiction, which makes it even more tempting. Great review!
