Tomohiro is stuck between two groups of people who want him for his abilities: The Yakuza who obviously want to use his powers for nefarious reasons, but there’s also the Kami, others like him. Kami are descendants of the Shinto goddess Amaterasu, and all they want to do is take the gangsters and crime out of the world. Not so bad, right? Wrong! They have this god complex and think they’re superior. Ugh. I understand their intentions, but they’re going about it all wrong. Katie is also trying to figure out how she’s connected with the Kami, because there IS a connection, even though she’s American and all. And then we find out and... whoa!

I’ve had this series on my TBR list for well over 10 years, and I only started reading it this year! And you know what, overall, I really enjoyed myself. There were some things about it that I liked, some that I didn’t, but it wasn’t a bad series.

Out of all the books in this series so far, I think this one has got to be my favorite! I just loved it! I really liked the premise of the book with poor Emily being kidnapped and being forced to do an awful thing, just because the Machinist wants to be resurrected, essentially.

The gang is off to the US to help their friend Jasper, who is in some real trouble. It turns out that Jasper stole some device from some thug and now he wants it back. And said thug is threatening Jasper with Mei, a girl he cares about. I’m not gonna lie though, I was not a fan of Mei as soon as we met her. I felt bad for Jasper and the situation he was in, especially because he seemed to care about her a lot, but I just did not care for their relationship 😬

I’ve had this book on my TBR list for 11 years! And I’m only just getting around to it now! I like the idea of this series, so I was really looking forward to reading this. I really loved the first book in this duology so I was very excited to read this one, and I’m happy to see that it turned out to be another great read! There was some unexpected mythology in there that I really appreciated, and I just really love the sisters and their complicated relationship.

Right from the start I knew I would love this book...

I loved the premise of this book! The crazy girl with the dead twin sister who talks to her + friends cursed by some other evil ghost... um, yes please! I just love ghost stories! But beyond that, I loved the characters in this book, their backstories and their interactions. I particularly loved the dynamic between Mace and Lark. Once upon a time, Mace saved Lark from herself, now Lark must save Mace and his friends from this terrible curse. I totally shipped these two from the beginning... it’s a shame he already had a girlfriend ;) But, okay, I also really liked Ben ;) And the sisterly relationship between Lark and Wren was also great! It’s quite a unique situation they’re in.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! There are so many things that I love in this book, that's why I loved it...if that makes any sense at all. The two main things:

1.) Mythology! I LOVE mythology! And although Greek is my favorite, I really love ALL types! And this book? It involved Egyptian mythology, which, ahem, may be my second favorite type of mythology...just sayin'.

The Goddess Queen (Hera) - I really liked this story. I thought the bickering between Hera and Zeus was kind of amusing, but really, talk about a dysfunctional family! I have to admit, Hera has never been one of my fave Greek gods/goddesses...she's always so vengeful and stuff! But in this short story, I kinda felt bad for her. I can see where her rage and bitterness comes from (*cough* Zeus *cough*). But dude! Seriously? She goes from bitter to just plain crazy in the 2 previous books!
