I have been waiting (im)patiently for this book ever since I finished reading Paradise-1 back in 2023. I really enjoyed that book! I loved the blend of horror and sci-fi, but that cliffhanger-ish ending was brutal! I was so excited to continue the story and Revenant-X did not disappoint!

In my neverending quest to find fun, cozy, sci-fi books, I came across this one! The premise sounded very interesting: Ruby finds herself on a planet full of robots, which kinda sucks for her because she hates robots. But these robots are in need of help and Ruby is the only one able to give that help. It was very interesting following Ruby on this journey because of her dislike (and distrust) of robots. But she had a good reason to not trust anything robot/AI-related.

One thing I liked about this book was the titular robots. They were just so endearing! They took everything literally—even their names were literal! 😂

Her parents might own one of the biggest tech companies in the world, but maybe Lena's right to distrust technology as much as she does. Especially when one of her best friends was attacked by one of the robots created by her parents' company. Even worse, these robots are set to ship out to everyone pretty soon. And on top of that, she's getting threatening notes. Girl can't catch a break. She's gonna have to figure out what's happening soon before more people are killed and we get a repeat of the events in book one.

Out of all the books in this series so far, I think this one has got to be my favorite! I just loved it! I really liked the premise of the book with poor Emily being kidnapped and being forced to do an awful thing, just because the Machinist wants to be resurrected, essentially.

The gang is off to the US to help their friend Jasper, who is in some real trouble. It turns out that Jasper stole some device from some thug and now he wants it back. And said thug is threatening Jasper with Mei, a girl he cares about. I’m not gonna lie though, I was not a fan of Mei as soon as we met her. I felt bad for Jasper and the situation he was in, especially because he seemed to care about her a lot, but I just did not care for their relationship 😬

I was so glad to be back in this world! I missed these characters 😩 I admit I was a little hesitant to read this only for the fact that it has to do with covid. One of the things that's annoying about watching shows right now, is that some have incorporated the pandemic into them. Listen here shows, there is a thing called escapism and I watch you to get away from all this. We have enough of this IRL, I don’t need it in my fiction too 😩 That being said, this short story was great! Lol. It basically shows what the characters would be doing during quarantine, and I really enjoyed seeing this little snippet into their lives.

So the crew are still dealing with the rogue wolf soldiers and their leader Steele. Throughout this whole book, I was very frustrated with Wolf and all the dumb decisions he made.

I was so excited to find out that there was a follow-up graphic novel to The Lunar Chronicles because I was just not ready to say goodbye to these wonderful characters just yet. This takes place after Winter but before the short story Something Old, Something New that is in Stars Above.
