This month I didn't read as many books as last month, but last month was a weird one where I read 17 books. That's never happened before, and I honestly don't think it will ever happen again 😂 But I'm fine with that because this month I read 8 books, which is still on the higher side of what I normally read in a month. That's a total of 2264 pages, which is about 1900 pages less than in September.
- 5 were full-length novels and 3 were manga
- 6 were part of a series, and 2 were a standalones
- I started 1 series but didn't finish any this month 😅
- 7 were finished copies and 1 ARC
- 6 were physical books and 1 was an ebook
- 4 were 5-star books, 3 were 4-star books, and 1 was a 3-star read
- All 8 were traditionally published
- 3 were by a new-to-me author and 5 were by authors I've previously read
- 1 was an adult book, 5 YA, and 2 middle grade books
- 7 were fiction books and 1 nonfiction
- 1 was supernatural horror, 1 urban fantasy, 3 action adventure, 1 historical fantasy, 1 mystery thriller, and 1 was a book about books lol
Books read this month:
I LOVED Wrath of the Triple Goddess! It was such a fun, very Halloween adventure! I actually wasn't expecting it to be as Halloween-y as it was, but with Percy pet-sitting for the Greek goddess of magic, Hecate, I shouldn't have expected anything less 😂 It was great!
And then I read two more Spy x Family volumes and I am still also really loving this series! It's so fun and action-packed! And I also really love the characters!
Find Him Where You Left Him Dead was a really good supernatural horror that had a ton of Japanese mythology and I just loved it! I love mythology, for one, but I also love horror and this one had some really good creepy moments!
And then back to more Percy Jackson because I've been on a Percy Jackson kick lately lol, I finally finished Greek Heroes! I really enjoyed it and Percy's sassy narrative of the most famous Greek heroes 😂
Dark Archive is a nonfiction book about, wait for it, books bound in human skin 😰 Yeah, it was wild. However, it actually wasn't as macabre as I was expecting. I thought it was really interesting and the reason why people bound books in human skin was actually really surprising to me. I liked this one!
Volume 2 of Sakamoto Days was a lot of fun! This manga is about a retired assassin who is just trying to live his life but trouble keeps finding him. The first part of the volume took place in an amusement park and I loved it! I don't know what it is about books set in amusement parks, but I just think that sort of setting is really fun! And then toward the end, we found out some very interesting stuff about the assassin organization and the bounty that is on Sakamoto's head 😬 I will definitely be continuing this series in the near-ish future, but right now I want to focus on Spy x Family!
The Haunting... I thought I was going to like this one. I started off enjoying it. I was liking the mystery and I was loving the Fall/Halloween vibes of the book. But it just didn't work for me. The plot twists at the end were not my favorite. And the book ended abruptly like it wanted to shock the audience. Cool, I guess, but I would've rather had some resolution 🙃 There were some things I liked about the book, but I literally just finished this book like 3 minutes ago as I'm writing this, and I can only think about the things I didn't. I'm gonna need to sit on this one for a day before I can gather my thoughts. Lol.
Favorite book of the month:
I read SO many good books this month, but if I had to pick just one, I have to go with this Percy Jackson book. I loved it so much! 🥰
Least favorite book of the month:
I didn't hate this book, but I also didn't love it. I actually started off enjoying it, but it just kinda went downhill.
