The other day I was watching BookswithEmilyFox on YouTube where she was going over the books she bought in 2024 and whether she had read them within that year. She actually did great! So I wondered how well, I did at reading the books I bought in 2024. I didn't think I did that terribly because I thought I didn't buy that many books. Boy was I wrong on both accounts ðŸ«
I bought 24 books in 2024, which is kinda fun now that I think about it, but also kinda a lot. Lol. I bought most of these books second-hand though, so there's that. Lol. Anyway, here is how things went:
I ended up reading only 6 books and DNFd another of the 24 books I bought... That's only 29% of the books I bought ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚ Oh boy, that is not good. Lol. I have never looked at these stats before, and honestly, I'm ashamed. And shocked. But also not really because I'm a mood reader 😆 I'm also not really ashamed, I'm just being dramatic like always 😂 This was definitely eye-opening though. Lol.
These next couple of books are the ones I received for review, were gifted/won in a giveaway, or were just random freebies (I did not include any library books because we would be here all day 😂):
I did a lot better here! I think because most of these books were review books and were, therefore, a higher priority to be read. I read all 10 ARCs I got in 2024 that were released in 2024. At the end of the year I got three 2025 ARCs, one of which I have read, one I'm in the middle of now, and the other I have not read yet. Overall, I read 13 out of these 20 books, which is 65%! That is not bad!
Interesting to see these stats! I didn't count mine, but I think they would be similar to yours with a higher percentage of review copies I received that I read than those I bought. Like you said I feel review copies have a higher priority and I usually try to get to those, but I still had a bunch I didn't get to in 2024.
