Synopsis: Thrust back to 1666, Deena learns the truth about Sarah Fier. Back in 1994, the friends fight for their lives — and Shadyside's future.
One of my favorite Fear Street series is the Fear Street Saga trilogy that talks about the origins of the Fears and their feud with the Goodes. That's why I was particularly excited to watch this movie! And I have to say, I really enjoyed it! Now, this movie doesn't follow that series exactly, but I do think it pulled at least a little inspiration from it.
As the title suggests, this movie takes place mostly in 1666 and it follows Sarah Fier and how the curse came to be. I was really glad to see familiar faces from both the first and second movie in this one as they played different roles in this one. It was really interesting to see the reason why Sarah was being accused of witchcraft, and let me tell you, it made me mad!
Like I mentioned before, the movie doesn't follow the series exactly, but I definitely saw some parallels, which I liked. It made sense with the mythos of the movies.
The third act of the movie takes place back in 1994 as the kids try to break the curse, and I really enjoyed this! They set up traps and the showdown with the killers was great! And Omg there was a vest made out of Fear Street books! 🤣 I loved that!
But yeah, I really enjoyed this movie! I liked the lore and how it paralleled the books, but almost flipped in a way. I also enjoyed the complex characters, the action, and especially the kills. I highly recommend this movie trilogy this spooky season whether you're a fan of the books or of horror movies! It was just good!
The Fear Street connection: Lots of Sarah Fier, of course. There was also a brief stop on Fier Street, but that was very underwhelming 😒
