Synopsis: Is this the end?

What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases, and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course.

Wait. . . . Not. So. Fast.

When we last saw Squad 312, they working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally.

But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the team has one last chance to rewrite theirs. Maybe two. It's complicated.

Cue Zila, Fin, and Scarlett (and MAGELLAN!): making friends, making enemies, and making history? Sure, no problem

Cue Tyler, Kal, and Auri: uniting with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay. That, too.

Actually saving the galaxy, though? Now that will take a miracle.

My rating: ★★★★☆

The cliffhanger of the last book was brutal! We found out that Kal's dad was the freaking Starslayer, and everyone felt betrayed, which is understandable. But then everyone got separated, Kal was potentially dying, there was a huge explosion, and you just didn't know where the characters stood at the end of it all. I honestly don't know how people were able to wait a year between releases to find out.

I'm glad I had this book handy and ready to read once I finished Aurora Burning because that ending was insane!

Overall, I really enjoyed the series. From the start, I've mentioned how interesting I found the story, and this book continued that. I liked the trope that was introduced after that giant explosion and I enjoyed it as the characters tried to find their way back to one another.

But at one point, somewhere in the middle of the book, I found myself speed-reading through it because I just wanted to be done reading the book. I just wasn't enjoying myself very much and I wanted to be done. That is never a good sign.

And I'm pretty sure one reason why is because there were certain POVs that I just don't care for. The only POVs I was into were Zila's, Fin's, and Scarlett’s. But Tyler, Aurora, and Kal? Didn't care. And you know why? I've mentioned this issue a lot in my review of the other two books: The freaking romance! There were four total romantic relationships introduced in this series and I did not like two of them. And you know what they had in common: The Pull. Weird how the non-Pull relationships are the only ones I liked 🙃 The ones with the Pull just felt forced to me. Scarlett and Fin though?

I loved it SO much! And listen, I did like the characters as individuals and the friendship between them, but the Pull just ruined things for me.

Overall though, I really did enjoy this. The ending was pretty satisfactory, if not a little cheesy. The way Aurora planned to defeat the Ra’hamm... Wow. But go off, Auri. Lol. But despite my issues with the series, I'm gonna miss the characters.
