Synopsis: After Simon is kidnapped by faeries (why is he always kidnapped?), he uncovers rumors of a secret weapon Sebastian left behind for the faerie queen. He must escape the Fey, relying on his only ally, former Shadowhunter and Dark Artifices character Mark Blackthorn.

My rating: ★★★★☆

In this story, some students from Shadowhunter Academy go on a mission, a mission where Simon runs into freaking Mark Blackthorn! It was so sad! 😭 I hate that the Shadowhunters didn’t do anything to save him in City of Heavenly Fire. After the mission they then go to Helen’s wedding. Which, again, was sad because Mark wasn’t there and Helen is still in exile. And then seeing poor Juilan taking care of all of his siblings... it really pulled at the heartstrings 😭

I love these characters though. One in particular that I am a huge fan of is one of Simon’s new friends, Marisol.

“I don't want to hear any more about video games, Marisol!” snapped Jon, a Shadowhunter in a nightmare of torrential mundane information.

Marisol is a mundane and has taken it upon herself to torment the jerk that is Jon. I loved every second of it! 😆 And we also get to see the TMI gang, which is always nice. There was one scene in particular between Jace and Simon that melted my heart...

Simon was not actually fooled that Jace was angry. Jace had hugged him when he saw him, and more and more Simon was coming to believe that he and Jace had not had a relationship in which they hugged before.
But apparently they were huggers now.

I love this 😭 I know Jace can be, well, Jace sometimes, but these moments when he’s sweet is just 😍 I loved it! It was a good story all around.
