Synopsis:
The Little Android is a retelling of The Little Mermaid, set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles by New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer.
When android Mech6.0 saves the life of a handsome hardware engineer, her body is destroyed and her mechanics discover a glitch in her programming. Androids aren’t meant to develop impractical reasoning or near-emotional responses…let alone fall in love.
The Little Android is a retelling of The Little Mermaid... the Hans Christian Andersen one, not the Disney one. And yikes 😬
Our “mermaid” is an android called Mech6.0 (aka Star later on in the story) and she is very glitchy and loved her gossip. Lol. Mech6.0 ends up falling for this really nice guy working on a ship after she saves him from a nasty fall. Honestly, Mech6.0 might be an android, but damn is she awesome! I love her! After saving this guy, Mech6.0 is in need of a new body, and she finds it in the most unexpected place...
As we know from OG Little Mermaid story, the guy falls in love with another girl, and even though I was expecting this, it was still so sad! He seemed nice and even the other girl was nice too, but my poor Mech6.0! 😩 I really felt for her, which is saying something seeing as how she’s an android. Lol.
This was such a good, heartbreaking story and I absolutely loved it! There was so much to this story that I was not expecting, even though I knew the basic outline of the original fairy tale. It was all a really cool surprise to me, especially when it pertains to The Lunar Chronicles world. I also loved Mech6.0 and how so sweet and selfless she was. She was basically another glitchy android, and I’m gonna be honest, I love them glitchy androids. Lol. She deserved ALL the Happily Ever Afters! 😭
I totally forgot what this story is about, but now that you've reminded me, I remember I loved it!

DeleteI haven't read any of these books yet. I do enjoy retellings, so this sounds excellent.
