Synopsis: Simon’s journey to become a Shadowhunter nears its end as his Ascension ceremony draws closer. One of ten adventures in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy.

Simon’s Ascension ceremony draws near in this brilliant conclusion to Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy.

My rating: ★★★★★

This is it. The end. After two years at the Academy, Simon is finally gonna go through the ceremony, drink from the Mortal Cup, and become a Shadowhunter.

One of my favorite things about this book was the relationship between Simon and George.

“But there’s something else I’ve never had,” Simon added. “At least until now.”
“What’s that?”
“A brother.” The word felt right. Not someone you chose— someone the fates assigned you, someone who, under any other circumstance, might never have given you a second look. Nor you him. Someone you would die for and kill for without a second thought, because he was family. Judging from George’s radiant smile, the work sounded right to him, too.
“Are we going to hug now or something?” George said.
“I think it’s inescapable.”

I really loved this story! I laughed, I cried, and everything in between. When Simon went up to drink from the cup I had literal palpitations, but I was also trying to not cry. It was such a big moment and I was so proud of him! And then that ending... so good! I’m really going to miss all these new characters Simon befriended, especially George! And I was really impressed with Jon’s character development, which was honestly mostly thanks to Marisol, who I loved! Lol. But yeah, this was amazing! I loved it!
