Synopsis:
Gin Blanco is hard-nosed, sexy, and lethal. Nicknamed “The Spider,” she’s a stone elemental assassin who brings her unique mix of magic and tact to every assignment, no matter the target.
There’s a new drug on the streets of Ashland, and its name “Burn” sums up the potent effect it has on its users. When one of her restaurant employees is threatened by dealers of the drug, Gin steps in to set things straight...
We finally get to meet M.M. Monroe!! And we thought the Monroe/Snow family feud was over... well, it’s not! This Monroe person isn’t the main villain in this book, but the seed was planted, and I am glad we finally got to meet this person we’ve been hearing so much about lately. This person is definite trouble for Gin, and I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for her, because I’m pretty sure it’s gonna get bad!
But getting to the story at hand, Gin finds herself in a pretty awful situation. It was so suspenseful, I felt almost claustrophobic—this desperation for Gin to get out of this! It was so bad! This vampire guy was insane! And a freak! And we’ve seen air magic in use before in the series, but we get something new with it in this book! The vampire drug lord guy has air magic and he uses it in the most interesting, but awful, way. But Gin is amazing and smart and always finds a way. I love her! She is probably my most favorite heroine of all time ever! She is sassy...
“Why ever would you think that something’s up?” I said in my best, most innocent, I-haven’t-killed-anybody-in-hours voice.
...and such a badass! That end fight was so amazing!! But my poor Gin is tired of the fights. Tired of having a target on her back. Of all the blood. Always having to be on guard. I get it. It’s awful! But this end fight will only bring even more trouble for Gin...
And Bria is not helping matters. You see, this case is very personal to her and she ends up doing some very irrational things. The sisters are not seeing eye to eye on this one.
But overall, I really loved this book... as always. Lol. I love the characters...
“Aw man,” Finn said, coming up to stand beside me, a black duffel bag dangling from his hand. “I didn’t even get to shoot anybody.”
“Well, look on the bright side,” I drawled. “Your clothes didn’t get messed up. Neither did your hair.”
Finn perked up at my reasoning.
...this world, and the cool magic! We get to see a new type of elemental magic in this book and I am really excited to explore more of it in the next book! And of course, more M.M. Monroe! Gin may be sick of all the trouble, but with M.M. Monroe in town, her trouble is just starting!

This world and it's magic system sound amazing. And Gin is someone I can't wait to "meet" as I love that she is sassy and can kick some serious butt.
